RFA FAQs

Evening All!
Two weeks today I commence my ten week training package at Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth. As I assemble a great deal of kit and watch my bank balance slowly tick down as a result, also enjoy some time off! I have been reflecting on what was a small but often stressful journey... the recruitment process. Often at times it can be long, some would say tedious. However testing it is I found the process useful in giving me confidence and challenging my physical and intellectual abilities. I feel that regardless of where you current sit in the application process, don't forget..... it will be worth it! To be nice I have thought of a couple of questions that always arise that I can answer (hurrah!), please not answers correct based on my experience in summer/autumn 2018.

Q- Are expenses to the sift interview covered?
A- Yes fully and within reason, for example train costs are reimbursed and a hotel with meals is provided if required, the recruitment team were amazingly helpful with this.

Q- What will I be asked during my AIB interview?
A- Everything, you are a blank slate to them they don't have your CV. This is no excuse to lie or inflate the truth however, they will see straight through it. Be honest, completely honest, highlight that you are a human capable of emotion and reflection, but also an interesting person with passion and leadership potential.

Q- Is AIB hard?
A- Overall yes, however you can make it less stressful by being prepared, especially with the fitness test. The AIB process will challenge everyone regardless of background or aspired trade, however don't fear the unknown, embrace it! By getting stuck in and being honest you will actually enjoy the process.
